"Meet George Jetson..."

Haha, looks great, Matt. That big new window and that long bench totally gives a futuristic Jetsons feel. Love it!

Wow Matt! That is beautiful and it looks like your generating plenty of BTUs there. I bet your bench is nice and toasty. I didnt fiddle enough to know what a p channel is. Maybe its just a curved tunnel. How do you feel about creating a simple sketch of your system since youve modified it? If not, my feelings wont be hurt as i have nothing to gain except quiescing my curiosity.

Yeah, I should do that. I'll try to get to it. If you are curious about the firebox, check out this link...

Thank you.

I'm working on a full follow up to my conversion, and found these old construction clips from a couple months ago. So, here's a bit of a glimpse at the conversion. I'll have a recent follow up video up soon...

Really looking forward to viewing the finished design in action.
About how long will each batch burn?
With the added tube, will the batch box burn as good or better than the original core before modification?

It's about 90 minutes between loads on average Nirky, and according to my Testo it's burning cleaner than anything I've ever seen. Long, flat lines, with CO below 10ppm, and long stretches below 5ppm. I think particulate is way down too, since I've got way less air moving through the ash bed. That's speculation though, I can't measure it.

Wow, 90 minutes, that's an eternity! When I'm burning dry wood in my non-batch box system, 15 minutes is all I get. Max. It's voracious. I've resorted to adding a mixture of non-dry fuel in with the dry to extend burn times. Have you calculated how many times larger the batch box is compared to the capacity of the wood fuel area of your previous J?

90 minutes is a crazy long time, isn't it?! I've don't that mix the wet with the dry thing, too, but I got away from it because it kind of effects the way the system burns (not as hot, and more junk in the lines).

A 6" batch box has about 3 times the wood capacity as an 8" J.

How's your stove coming, Nirky?
