DIY wicking beds

Postby boo » Sat Aug 04, 2012 5:07 am

Wicking beds are very popular in Australia due to the heat in summer and difficulties in growing food crops with limited water.
I thought that I'd share the info because it just might help someone out:

My neighbor uses raised beds for his garden and has been talking about adding another one. I sent him the link for these, I thought it was a very interesting idea, raised beds are designed to act as a wick for water anyway, this just makes that process better. He has been watering from the top of the bed now and he uses what I would consider alot of water. He has a well, so it does not really cost him much, but if there is a better way why not use it.
Never doubt that a small group of dedicated people can change the world, indeed it is the only thing that ever has.
