.. thanks Lolly .. since retired, I've worked a heck of a lot harder than when working ..

... finished 'paving' my entrance road ...





... then after starting to hand dig my swale pond .. I decided it was time to get a bigger shovel ..





... made digging the swale pond a whole heck of lot easier ... now, need it to rain .. a lot ..

these type of projects take a lot out of you but the land gives so much to us. I don't believe there is any rretiring when you have a dream and you want to turn it into a reality. keep plugging along and never give up for more than a few hours because the sun is going down for a lot of us.

you trying to move the water or retain it?

... I'm retaining it just up the slope from the garden .. as it soaks in, it goes underneath the garden .. hope to build it up under there to never have to water garden or orchard .. guess it's more of a holding pond than swale ..

Great Idea Tru, truly a great idea. Any thing that you can do so that you do not need to water the garden is a wonderful idea. Adding some logs down deep in the ground in the garden area to help hold the moisture that seeps down that way would be another good idea. Having nature do all the work for you sounds like the ticket to me. I really do like the no work theory of gardening, lol, even though there seems to be a lot of work to get things to that point.
